Red Fever follows Cree co-director Neil Diamond as he asks, “Why do they love us so much?” and sets out on a journey to find out why the world is so fascinated with the stereotypical imagery of Native people that is all over pop culture. Why have Indigenous cultures been revered, romanticized, and appropriated for so long, and to this day? Red Fever uncovers the surprising truths behind the imagery -- so buried in history that even most Native people don't know about them.
Directed & Written by Neil Diamond & Catherine Bainbridge.
Produced by Rezolution Pictures ( linktr.ee/rezolutionpictures )
with the participation of Canadia Media Fund, Telefilm Canada, Rogers Documentary Fund, Rogers Group of Funds and the Indigenous Screen Office
Theatrical release across Canada June 2024.
Canadian broadcast slated for late 2024 on TVO, APTN, Knowledge Network, ZDF in collaboration with ARTE and Radio Canada
Distribution by Les Films du 3 Mars.

    Der Film über Little Bird hat mich sehr berührt. Und ich habe eine solche Wut bekommen!!! Dieses Leid, diese himmelschreiende Ungerechtigkeit muss mehr in das Bewusstsein der amerikanischen Bevölkerung. Das Land gehört den Indianern, den First Nations. Ich bete für all die gebrochenen Seelen! Ich würde sehr gerne mehr Filme über die First Nations von First Nations zu sehen. Sprechen Sie Deutsch, Herr Schweig!?

      No it didn't 😂 black people literally predate indians doing blues music! Hill country blues, piedmont blues, fife and drum blues, betonia school and vaudeville blues had nothing to do with indians 🤣 buddy bolden, prince McCoy, baby seals Franklin, W.C. handy, pete Hampton, john w.f. woods of lavilla Florida, Virginia Liston, lillyn brown, princess white, gonzell white as well as numerous other black musicians predate charlie patton and any indian doing blues music! Not only did we create blues music and predate indians doing blues music we also surpassed them in blues music!!! As well any American music by miles it's not even close lol

    "Rumble" was never banned in the U.S. I remember hearing it on the radio in the late 1950s. Link Wray always said that the sound was due to a damaged speaker on his amp. He liked the sound so he used it for this song. Link Wray was so proud to be a "Native American" that he moved to Sweden and married a Swedish woman.

    • @keymanmtj
      @keymanmtj 12 днів тому

      Link also served as a medic in the Korean War, contracting tuberculosis during his tour of duty. One of his lungs was removed in 1956. Later, at his home in Maryland, his six-year-old son drowned in a pond on the property. As far as moving to Sweden, in 1979 he married a Dutch woman and they moved to Copenhagen, Denmark, where he stayed for the rest of his life. Furthermore, there is a long tradition of American musicians finding favor in Europe, especially starting after WWII. Dexter Gordon, Eric Dolphy, Kenny Clarke, Oscar Pettiiford, Hazel Scott, Stan Getz, and many more made the trek, finding new opportunities and audiences in Paris and Stockholm. Some stayed, some didn't, but the die was cast. Seen in that light, Link's decision doesn't seem all that unusual. By the way, @deaddocreallydeaddoc5244, have you ever been to Europe?

    • @coronafleming1345
      @coronafleming1345 10 днів тому

      It’s a well documented fact that it was banned. Also, he moved to Denmark, not Sweden.

    The guitar and musical notation were invented by WHITES. This is so ironic because American Indians have made such a big deal out of cultural appropriation lately. In The Last Waltz Robbie Roberson talks about how rock and roll began,; its deep roots in the South with traveling shows, and so on during the 19th century. This was at a time when all American Indians were doing was pounding on drums in a monotonous thump, thump, thump, and yelling at the top of their lungs. This was their musical contribution. The only real story is that whites were so cool that they did not ban anyone not white from enjoying their music which led to the infusions and styles that became blues, jazz, rock, and so on.

    The Innus of Québec have many legends of Tshakapesh, but legend is the wrong term, as it is believed by many to be a real story. It became known as legend due to the influence of western religion. For the Innus, Tshakapesh is 3rd in line in the creation, but is a powerful one.

    I was a stricken deer that left the herd. With many an arrow deep infix't My panting side was charged, then I withdrew To seek a tranquil death in distant shades. There was I found by the one who had himself Been hurt by th'archers, in his side he bore And in his hands and feet the cruel scars. With gentle force soliciting the darts He drew them forth and healed and bade me live. William Cowper, Stricken Deer.

    It's a sad day that this could still be happening and needs to be exposed - agencies agents relatives teachers social workers hospital workers, etc. Child trafficking is a horror story, even if the child is safe in a non-Indian home and family. It's still about child trafficking, about placing a child without permission of the parents, families. It's wrong. There is a book - Little Bird. A baby was stolen with the cooperation of a hospital leadership staff, in a border town. A native woman had twins and she was told one of the babies had died, but she knew that was a lie; and would not give up searching for the infant; camped out near the hospital. She never got her baby back. The baby was taken and given to a Jewish couple who couldn't have babies. Years later, the girl grows up and knew that she didn't belong; begin searches through the internet; found her birth certificate. She posted emails channeled through an Indian reservation. In time she got a response; and it was from a sister. She found out the truth. She was married by then; eventually she visited her relatives. Her mother had passed by then. It was a joyful return. It appeared the Jewish couple adopted her for good reason, probably unaware she was stolen. It was the hospital that did the extreme wrong and caused so much heartache for the parents.
